Roxanne started The Family Plaque after receiving a name plaque at her baby shower.  Her son's name was hand painted on the plaque, and although it was beautiful, Roxanne thought it must have been very time consuming to make.  And this got her thinking, "What if I could produce plaques for any name and do it without hand-painting or stenciling the lettering on the plaque?"  After realizing that by simply modifying the design and construction of the plaque she could go into business for herself, Roxanne left her 10-year career in marketing and created The Family Plaque.  A year later the company launched its web site, offering customers an enhanced, state-of-the-art environment to create their plaques.

"The key to success was making the customer's experience as visually stunning and hands-on as possible," said Roxanne.  "Letting them have control over the design of their plaque was crucial, and it has proven to be a huge selling point.  Customers know exactly what their plaque will look like when it arrives." 

Roxanne continues to manage the day-to-day operations of the company, as well as spend time with her son.  "I started this business as a way to stay connected to my family.  The fact that I’m making a product that keeps other families connected as well - what could be better than that?"
