Our Engagement Story
On Easter weekend 2007, Cody called me to come over to his parent’s house. Chloe, my darling puppy, and I went over to the Sage’s and I was little surprised that it was so quiet and that no one else besides Cody was there. After saying hello, Cody told me that he had made a video that he wanted me to watch. As it started, it said, “Just watch,” and Dave Barnes’ song, “On a Night Like This” began playing. The video was filled with pictures of us, quotes on love, and Bible verses on love. The very last picture said, “Will you marry me?” at which point I looked over to see Cody on one knee with a ring in his hand. I started crying before saying “YES!”
Our Wedding Story
In December 2007, after 4 ½ years of dating, Cody and I were married! We are from the same small town in Texas, so we chose to get married at his church, the same church where his grandparents were married. We loved how intimate our ceremony was, with family and friends that had been such an uplifting part of our lives included in the wedding. My favorite part of our wedding day was walking into a church of 300 people and feeling calm the second I saw Cody. I had been nervous all day, but the moment I locked eyes on my future husband, everything was fine! The ceremony went so smoothly, and as we walked out of the church, Cody and I were excited to finally be called husband and wife! We had a fun reception, talking with all of the wonderful family and friends that had come to celebrate our big day!

Our Family Plaque Story
For Christmas 2008, we received our Family Plaque, which I absolutely love!
As any bride would be, I am still in love with my new last name – and my husband too, of course! We were fortunate to close on our first home not long after Christmas. It required a lot of painting and other work, but before we did anything, we got out our ladder and hung up our plaque. It is the first thing people see when they walk into our new home
